Google Nest × CheckYout: heating goes Eco the moment a guest checks out.
Run a US or UK rental? Heating goes Eco the second a guest checks out – even on the weekend nights between bookings. Set the Eco temperature once in the Google Home App.
With the Smart Home add-on · CHF 9.90/month
Official Google connection
Connection via the official Google OAuth flow. You enter your password directly at Google, never at CheckYout.
Eco mode saves energy
Eco mode keeps the property frost-free instead of heating to comfort all the time – a heating pause for every empty hour between check-out and the next arrival. Set the Eco temperature in the Google Home App.
Runs automatically
Eco mode kicks in the moment a guest checks out. No manual step in the Google Home app.
Reliable API
CheckYout uses the official Google Smart Device Management API. No unofficial interfaces.
How it works
Securely connect Google account via official OAuth flow
Check-out detected – Google Nest switches to Eco
Set Eco temperature once in the Google Home App
Compatible thermostats
All Nest thermostats linked to a Google Home account work with CheckYout. Older Nest accounts (without Google migration) are not yet supported.
What happens at check-out
Guest scans the QR code while leaving the property
Cleaning team receives a WhatsApp notification instantly
Google Nest activates Eco mode
→ Only if no arrival is planned on the same day
→ On arrival days, Nest pre-heats 6 h before check-in
Cleaning team arrives (about 30 min drive)
Cleaning complete, host is notified
Cleaning team starts the next job
3 h earlier→ More properties per day, especially in high season
Next guest can check in
2 h earlier→ Instead of the default 4 PM check-in
It pays off over the season: Google Nest drops to Eco mode at check-out and only warms up again before arrival. The heating follows the guest, not the calendar.
Nest or tado°?
Google Nest is the default in the US, UK and Ireland. In German-speaking Europe, tado° is more common. Both work with CheckYout – pick whichever thermostat is already on your wall.
See tado° →More integrations
Heating automatically lowers at check-out, heats up before arrival.
Explore tado° Thermostat →How do I automate Google Nest for vacation rentals?
CheckYout connects to your Google account via Google OAuth2 and activates Eco mode on your Nest thermostat at check-out. Before the next arrival it switches back to comfort temperature in time – with a connected PMS.
Does it work with the Nest account or the Google account?
Only with the Google account. If your Nest still uses an old "Works with Nest" account, you first have to migrate it to a Google account – which is done in the Google Home app. After that the CheckYout integration works.
What happens at check-in with Google Nest?
About 6 hours before the next arrival CheckYout switches the thermostat from Eco mode back to comfort temperature. Lead time is configurable. If an arrival is scheduled on the same day, Eco mode is skipped.
Which Nest thermostats are supported?
All current Nest models linked to the Google Home app: Nest Thermostat, Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E. Migration to a Google account is a prerequisite.
What data does CheckYout share with Google?
Only the setpoint change itself – i.e. "Eco on" or "set to X degrees". Tokens and logs sit encrypted in Frankfurt (Supabase EU). Google never sees who checked in or out – CheckYout only sends the minimal API call for the mode switch.
