tado° × CheckYout: heating follows the booking plan — hours less heating between guests.
At check-out, the heating winds down automatically. Six hours before the next arrival it is warm again — the guest never sees the eco-mode hours in between.

Pre-heating before arrival: requires a connected PMS
Heating lowered after check-out at 7:42
~3 h less heating per day
Most hosts don't leave the heating on intentionally. In the moment, they simply don't think about it: the guest is gone, the notification came, now the cleaning is underway. Three hours later the property is at 22 degrees and empty. No problem at first glance, but the heating costs keep running.
How tado° aligns the heating with the booking plan
Before
You turn the heating down by hand — and forget. Or you leave it running because the next guest arrives in two days. Either way: hours of heating with nobody there.
After
Heating follows the booking. Last guest leaves at 11:00 → eco mode. Next booking Thursday, check-in 16:00 → tado° starts heating up at 10:00. The guest steps into a warm place — you kept it in eco mode in between.
How do I save heating costs with tado° in my vacation rental?
CheckYout switches the heating to eco mode via tado° after check-out and back to comfort temperature at check-in – no manual adjustment needed.
How much can I save on heating with CheckYout and tado°?
Depends on vacancy, insulation and outside temperature. Concretely: in a typical apartment the heating runs about 50 hours per month in eco mode, in a larger chalet around 120 hours — instead of staying at comfort temperature throughout. Away mode activates automatically, only when no new guest is expected on the same day.
How do I set up the tado° connection?
In the CheckYout dashboard, connect your tado° account via OAuth. Then assign thermostats to your properties. About 5 minutes.
Does it work with all tado° thermostats?
Yes. CheckYout supports all tado° Smart Thermostats and Smart Radiator Valves accessible via the tado° API.
What happens with a short-notice check-in?
When a PMS is connected, CheckYout detects the next arrival and pre-heats automatically in time – even for short-notice bookings.
How it works
Connect tado° account in CheckYout settings
Assign home and zones to the property
Choose: "Away mode" or "All off" at check-out
Optional: Activate warm-up before arrival (requires Smoobu)
Features
Heating off as soon as the guest leaves
At check-out, heating is automatically lowered or turned off in all configured zones. No forgotten heating in empty properties.
Warm when the next guest arrives
With a connected PMS, CheckYout knows the next arrival and activates tado° in time (e.g. 6 hours before). The guest arrives to a warm place.
Control each room individually
Living room, bedroom, bathroom – each zone individually controllable. Directly in the CheckYout dashboard, without the tado° app.
See when the heating runs in eco mode
The dashboard shows you how many hours the heating was in eco mode between guests. Per check-out and cumulated.
Concretely: how often the heating runs in eco mode.
Example Apartment (small)
65 m², 5 guest turnovers / month
Avg. 14 hours vacancy per turnover
Setback of 5°C
approx. 50 h in eco mode / month
Example Chalet (large)
120 m², 10 guest turnovers / month
Avg. 18 hours vacancy per turnover
Setback of 6°C
approx. 120 h in eco mode / month
Estimates. Depend on insulation, outside temperature and occupancy. Shorter booking gaps mean less eco mode time.
For most properties, the heating savings cover the Pro plan.

Multiple properties? Each connected individually.
Do you have a tado° thermostat in each property? You assign every thermostat to the matching property in CheckYout. Each property has its own setback and comfort temperature and its own preheat time. Multiple zones within a property (living room, bedroom) are controlled individually, too.
- One CheckYout account covers your whole portfolio
- Per property, a dedicated assignment — thermostat, zone, temperature profile
- Configurations don’t interfere with each other
Heating runs only when occupied. The Pro plan often pays for itself.
