All Shellys connected to Shelly Cloud: switches, dimmers, plugs, roller shutters and radiator thermostats (TRV).

Do I need Shelly Cloud?

Yes. CheckYout controls your Shellys via the Shelly Cloud API. They must be registered in the Shelly Cloud App.

Can I set different actions per Shelly?

Yes. Each Shelly has its own check-out and check-in action. You can e.g. turn off the light but leave the shutter open.

Why Shelly Cloud and not the local API?

So CheckYout can work without you opening up your home network. Cloud commands go straight from Shelly to the hardware — neither VPN nor a static IP are needed. If the cloud is down, your Shelly stays in its last state, and on the next reconnect everything resumes.

How do I automate Shelly devices for vacation rentals?

You enter the Auth Key from your Shelly app once in CheckYout. Per device you pick what happens at check-out — switch off, dim, close shutters, TRV to eco temperature. At the next check-in (with PMS) CheckYout reactivates everything.

Which Shelly devices are supported?

Switches and relays (boiler, AC), dimmers and lights, plugs, shutters and radiator thermostats (TRV) — anything visible in the Shelly Cloud. Older generations from Shelly 1 onwards also work.

How do I connect Shelly Cloud with CheckYout?

In the Shelly app under "Profile → Cloud Auth Key" you generate an API key and paste it into CheckYout. About 2 minutes. You can revoke the Auth Key at any time in the Shelly app — CheckYout loses access immediately.

Does it also work without Shelly Cloud (locally)?

No. CheckYout only talks via Shelly Cloud. Upside: no VPN, no port forwarding, no static IP — and if the cloud is down, your device stays in its last state. A local API integration is not currently planned.

Which actions can CheckYout trigger per Shelly device?

Two actions per device: one at check-out (e.g. boiler off, shutters closed, TRV to 16°C) and one at check-in (e.g. boiler on, shutters open, TRV to 21°C). Actions are configurable per device — you don't need to write any automation in the Shelly app.
